Scorpion is a yellow-clad ninja warrior from the Mortal Kombat video games and other media. Once known as Hanzo Hasashi of the Shirai Ryu ninja clan, his entire clan and family were supposedly massacred by rival ninja group, the Lin Kuei. Scorpion himself was murdered by the Lin Kuei ice ninja Sub-Zero, his soul cast down into the Netherrealm only to return to the mortal plane as a vengeful spectre.
Scorpion is generally portrayed as a neutral character in the Mortal Kombat games, his only concern being revenge against those who have wronged him in life. However, various incarnations have depicted him as being either an unlikely ally to the franchise's notable heroes or wholly evil.
