Scud - real name Joshua - is a supporting character from the action-horror film Blade II. Once a lowly punk who had been exposed to the truth about vampires, he was recruited by Blade for his technical expertise, using his mechanical talents to build weapons and devices to assist Blade's crusade. He is portrayed by Norman Reedus.
History[]
Some time between the end of Blade and the beginning of Blade II, Scud was rescued by Blade when a pair of vampires attempted to feed on him. Demonstrating keen mechanical skills, Scud was employed by Blade to fill in for the vampire hunter's missing friend and mentor Abraham Whistler. He designed and built several new vampire-slaying weapons for Blade to use and joined him in travelling to the Czech Republic to find Whistler who was being held captive by vampires.
After Whistler was rescued and cured of his vampirism, Blade's base was infiltrated by envoys from the Vampire Nation who offered him a truce. Blade, Whistler and Scud would travel to Prague and join forces with the Bloodpack, a team of vampires trained to hunt Blade himself, in order to eliminate the threat of Jared Nomak and the Reapers.
Death[]
After Blade and his allies are captured following their battle with the Reapers in Prague's sewers, Blade is beaten to the floor by Dieter Reinhardt. Blade had previously attached a small explosive device to Reinhardt's head and had threatened to set it off if Reinhardt continued to undermine him. He decided to set it off then, but when he pressed the button on the detonator, nothing happened. Scud then revealed that the bomb was a dud and took it off Reinhardt's head. He revealed that he was actually a Familiar, a vampire wannabe in service to Eli Damaskinos, who had been spying on Blade the whole time. His double-cross turned out to be a triple-cross, however, as Blade revealed that he had been suspicious of Scud for a long time and revealed that the bomb actually wasn't a dud, brandishing a second detonator that set the device off in Scud's hand. Scud barely had time to register what was happening before his guts were scattered all over the chamber.
