Shang Tsung is a supporting character in the animated film Mortal Kombat: Snow Blind. In this alternate timeline, he has been stripped of most of his power and reduced to a feeble old man who acts as a servant to Kano, who rules the wastelands of Earthrealm. He is voiced by Artt Butler.
History[]
When the Black Dragon dominate another village out in the Wasteland, Shang Tsung addresses the villagers, urging them to swear loyalty to King Kano. Kano rewards the ageing sorcerer for his work, letting him pick out two souls for "dinner" that night.
After Kabal, Kira and Kobra discover another village hidden in the dunes of the desert, they report back to Kano. Kano decides to send them back there with Tremor, but then tells Shang Tsung to follow behind them discreetly and observe. The next day, Tsung follows the group to the village where he witnesses an altercation between them and a young, brash warrior called Kenshi Takahashi. Recognising the name, he quietly urges Tremor not to kill the young man after having thoroughly beaten him. The Black Dragons leave and Tsung approaches Kenshi, helping him back on to his feet.
Introducing himself as "Song", Shang Tsung tells Kenshi of a mystical weapon that will allow the young warrior to best any opponent, even empowered beings like Tremor. Intrigued by the old man's story, Kenshi asks where the legendary sword can be found. After gathering supplies for the journey, "Song" leads Kenshi to a cavern containing the Well of Souls. The well is sealed, but both Kenshi and "Song" recognise the markings on the lid. "Song" realises that the seal can be broken with blood magic and that it requires blood from a member of the Takahashi line to open. The old man cuts Kenshi's hand with a knife and his blood drips over the seal. The well then opens, but as Kenshi looks down into the darkness, an eerie green light emanates from the depths.
Suddenly, a cloud of souls emerges from the well, blasting Kenshi in the face and blinding him. As Kenshi crawls helplessly on the ground, "Song" reveals his true identity before absorbing the whirlwind of souls into his own body. The soul energy revitalizes Tsung, restoring his youth and his powers. He then grabs Kenshi and throws him down the well before teleporting out of the cave.
Death[]

Shang Tsung returns to K-Town where he confronts Kano, intent on taking revenge for the humiliation he endured while in his service. Kano seems largely unperturbed, sending several thugs to attack the sorcerer, who are each mercilessly and violently killed. Shang Tsung then attacks Kano himself, grabbing him and attempting to steal his soul. However, the soul draining spell doesn't work and Kano states that he is "long past having a soul".
Kano strikes while Shang Tsung's guard is down and viciously beats him, repeatedly slamming his face against a wall. As he brutally punishes the sorcerer, he makes mention of having already done this several times before, much to Tsung's confusion, who is unaware of how Kano has been using Kronika's Hourglass to rewrite history. Kano then finishes Shang Tsung by ripping his head and spine off his body before loudly exclaiming to the other Black Dragon members "No one beats Kano!"
