Shiva was a supporting character between Seasons 7 and 8 of The Walking Dead. She was a domesticated tiger cared for by King Ezekiel. She is a computer-generated character and was not portrayed by a live tiger.
History[]
Prior to the apocalypse, Shiva was a zoo animal who was cared for by Ezekiel Sutton. At one point, she had fallen into the empty concrete moat surrounding her enclosure and had severely wounded her leg. She would have bled to death had Ezekiel not risked his own life to save her, jumping into the enclosure and tearing off his shirt to bandage her wound. Since then, Shiva had never shown any kind of hostility towards Ezekiel, trusting him implicitly.
When the apocalypse took place, Ezekiel and Shiva survived together, helping each other to keep the dead at bay. When Ezekiel founded the Kingdom, Shiva remained by his side, showing no aggression to anyone that her owner considered a friend. To Ezekiel's enemies, however, Shiva proved to be ferocious and unrelenting. When war erupted between the Saviors and the Kingdom's allies, the tiger proved to be an invaluable asset, both as a combatant and in demoralizing the enemy, who were far less prepared to face a tiger than the walking dead.
Death[]
In the Season 8 episode "Some Guy", Carol Peletier, Jerry and Ezekiel flee from a Savior outpost after the rest of their group is massacred. Cutting through the forest to reach the Kingdom, they find themselves surrounded by walkers with little hope of escape. However, Shiva appears and attacks the zombies, killing a number of them and drawing the horde's attention away from Ezekiel. Sadly, Shiva is overwhelmed by the sheer number of zombies and Ezekiel watches with sorrow as his beloved pet is eaten alive.
