
This article lists the various minor characters and nameless extras that die in the ninth season of Smallville.
9x02: Metallo[]
- Rebecca Corben - Sister of John Corben. Three months prior to this episode's events, the Blur (Clark Kent) stopped a prison bus from crashing and one of the prisoners aboard escaped in the confusion. The convict found his way to Rebecca's apartment where he murdered her. After being turned into a kryptonite-powered cyborg, John became mentally unstable and blamed the Blur for his sister's death, vowing revenge against him.
9x03: Rabid[]
- At the Luthor Mansion, Tess and her bodyguard George find one of the security guards dead in a hallway, his throat ripped out.
- Three individuals resembling zombies attack Tess and George. George is beaten to death by one of the creatures.
- In the mansion's parlour, Tess fights off the three zombies with a sword. She manages to kill them, but is bitten and infected during the struggle and turns into a zombie herself.
- While Clark and Lois are hiding in the editor-in-chief's office at the Daily Planet, a zombie suddenly crashes through the window after Oliver Queen had shot it with a shotgun.
- After the skies of Metropolis are seeded with an antidote to the zombie virus, the rain causes all of the remaining infected to return to normal.
- Coats - A Kryptonian soldier serving under Major Zod, portrayed by Cameron Bancroft. He was responsible for releasing the virus as a means of drawing out the Blur, suspecting that he was Kryptonian. After reporting to Zod, Coats was beheaded by the Major as punishment.
9x06: Crossfire[]
- A Kandorian disguised as one of Tess' bodyguards is tasked by Major Zod with forcing Tess to reveal the identity of the Blur. However, the Kandorians currently do not have the same powers under Earth's yellow sun that Clark has, so the guard is only as strong as a human. Near the end of the episode, Tess finds Zod outside a café and delivers him an envelope containing the bodyguard's bloodied dog tags, implying that she killed him.
9x07: Kandor[]
- The episode begins with a flashback to 20 years before Krypton's destruction. A battle is taking place on the Kandorian border. A dead soldier is seen slumping over into a trench.
- Zod and Jor-El watch from the trench as a nuclear-level explosion destroys the city of Kandor. Countless lives are lost, including those of Zod's wife and son.
9x09: Pandora[]
- In a dystopian future ruled by Zod and the Kandorians, Clark and Lois are about to be executed by Zod at the Luthor Mansion. Suddenly, a group of Resistance fighters led by Oliver Queen break in, using crossbows loaded with kryptonite arrows to kill two of Zod's minions.
- Basqat - A soldier in Zod's army, portrayed by Adrian Holmes. He is killed by a Resistance member who stabs him in the heart with a kryptonite dagger.
- Tess Mercer - Portrayed by Cassidy Freeman. She uses brainwave visualization technology to witness Lois' repressed memories of the nightmarish future she had visited. Tess sees that her future self is a servant of Zod and also witnesses her own death, shot with a crossbow bolt by Chloe Sullivan.
- Chloe Sullivan - Portrayed by Allison Mack. In the future ruled by Zod, Chloe leads a resistance movement against the Kandorians. After reactivating Watchtower and transmitting a virus into Zod's solar tower, she is tracked down by Alia and impaled with a sword.
- Clark Kent - Portrayed by Tom Welling. During their final showdown, Zod stabs Clark with a kryptonite dagger. As Clark lays dying, he gives Lois the Legion Ring, allowing her to travel back in time three weeks after her initial disappearance (8x22: Doomsday). Thus, the events of this future are averted once Clark and his allies in the past are made aware of them.
9x11: Absolute Justice[]
- Wesley Dodds - Member of the former Justice Society of America, he went by the name Sandman and possessed the clairvoyant ability to witness murders in his dreams. He witnessed the death of his former colleague Sylvester Pemberton in this manner shortly before he was also murdered by Icicle II.
- Dr. Fate and John Jones find two warehouse workers frozen to death by Icicle.
- Joar Mahkent - The original Icicle and father of Cameron Mahkent. Following a battle with the Justice Society decades ago, Joar was left critically injured and brain-dead, forced to rely on life support to survive. After obtaining the Helm of Fate, Cameron decides to bid his father a final farewell before taking revenge on the JSA. After saying his goodbyes, Cameron unplugs his father's life support.
9x14: Conspiracy[]
- A restrained Vala watches in horror as Bernard Chisholm dissects a live Kandorian in front of her.
9x15: Escape[]
- After Lois scratches a painting in the McDougal Inn, the spirit of Siobhan McDougal returns to the mortal plane, possessing the body of a woman staying at the inn. In the dead of night, the Silver Banshee kills the boyfriend of her host body by consuming his life force, leaving him a withered husk.
9x19: Sacrifice[]
- Green Arrow breaks into the Luthor Mansion to find that Zod has killed a Checkmate agent who had previously broken in.
- Amanda Waller interrogates Faora, mentioning that Zod killed dozens of her agents.
- After killing Faora, Zod attacks the Castle, killing an unknown number of Checkmate agents before burning the Castle to the ground.
