Spike was a Rottweiler that appeared in Alien 3. The dog belonged to Thomas Murphy, an inmate of the correctional facility on Fiorina 161.
In 2179, an escape pod carrying Ellen Ripley crash-landed on Fiorina 161. The pod was salvaged from the sea and Ripley was rescued, but the inmates failed to notice that a Xenomorph Facehugger was still alive among the wreckage. When the pod was brought ashore, Spike was sniffing around and started barking, but the Facehugger then attacked and latched onto him. By the time Murphy noticed anything had happened to Spike, the Facehugger had already let go and Murphy assumed that the scars on the dog's face were the result of inmate cruelty.
What nobody knew was that Spike had become host to a Xenomorph embryo. While Ripley and several inmates were attending a funeral service for Dwayne Hicks and Newt, Spike was alone in his room. It was then that the dog suffered a terrible death as the Xenomorph inside him fully matured and tore its way out of him.
Assembly Cut[]
In the special edition DVD release of Alien 3, Spike has been cut from the film altogether. The Dragon is instead born from Babe, one of several oxen owned by the prison community.
