Tak was an antagonistic character who appeared in the Farscape episode "Out Of Their Minds". A member of the Halosian race, he commanded a ship and set out on a mission to hunt and destroy battle-ready vessels in order to increase his status among his people.

The puppet for Tak was portrayed by Thomas Holesgrove and his voice was provided by Nicholas McKay.

History[]

Tak's ship came across renegade Peacekeeper captain Bialar Crais aboard the Leviathan gunship Talyn. Crais claimed to be peaceful, but Tak wished to destroy Talyn in order to advance in status and opened fire. Talyn retaliated, crippling the Halosian ship and killing most of its crew, leaving only Tak and his lieutenant Yoz alive.

Twenty hours later, Moya happens across the Halos-1. Zhaan boards the seemingly crippled ship, but is captured by Tak, who was merely playing possum. Tak then fires on Moya, but the Halosian weapon has an unusual effect when it collides with Moya's defence screen: instead of destroying the ship, it causes the minds of Moya's crew to switch bodies. Tak believed that Moya may not have been as unarmed as Zhaan claimed them to be. Needing a way around the screen, Tak boarded Moya under the pretence that he was inspecting the ship to determine if they were indeed peaceful and not a threat. His true mission, however, was to sabotage Moya's defence screen. While touring the ship, Tak began to act sick, vomiting near one of Moya's systems. The vomit, however, was more than it appeared to be, oozing on its own onto Moya's electronic systems and shorting out the screen. Back aboard his ship, Tak tried to seize the opportunity and fired again, but the crew of Moya had managed to make quick repairs and had the screen partially operation once again, saving the ship. In spite of failing twice, Tak continued to press on. Yoz, however, had been convinced by Zhaan that Tak not worthy of being her captain after so much defeat.

Death[]

Tak attempted to make a third attack on Moya, but Yoz interrupted and attacked him. She killed him by tearing out his throat with her beak, taking his place as Lord of the ship.
