Terry (portrayed by Kevin Zegers) was a supporting character in the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. He was a security guard at the Crossroads Shopping Mall along with C.J. and Bart, though unlike his co-workers he was much more sympathetic to the other survivors of the zombie epidemic. When C.J. first threatened Ana Clark and Kenneth Hall's band of survivors to leave the mall, Terry was hesitant to stand up for the new arrivals due to lacking self-confidence. When Norma arrived with several new survivors in her truck, C.J. attempted to stop the others from opening the loading bay gates, but Michael and Terry stood up to him and locked him and Bart in one of the shops. Having proved his reliability to the others, Terry remained free while C.J. and Bart remained locked up until they were needed.
Over many days, Terry enjoyed the comforts of the mall along with the other survivors, even developing an attraction to Nicole. Eventually, however, the group began to despair as several of them were killed, whether by zombies or others in the group. It was later decided that the survivors would use the buses in the underground garage to escape from the mall, and so they outfitted the buses with armour and weapons with which to fight their way through the enormous undead horde flooding the street. Several more of the survivors died during the journey to the marina, but Terry was among the four who made it to Steve Marcus' boat and escaped onto the water.

The survivors' escape on the water is shown in a series of scenes that appear throughout the end credits. Ana, Kenneth, Terry and Nicole spent days on the water, exhausting their supplies by the time they got to the island which they believed would be their safe haven. Unfortunately, the island was no safer than the mainland as it too was infested with zombies. Seconds after the survivors arrive, a swarm of undead emerge from the forest and attack. Ana and the others open fire at the horde as they retreat back to the boat, but it remains unknown if any of them escaped or if they all died.
