The Joker is the legendary arch-enemy of the crime-fighting vigilante, Batman. One of the greatest comic-book supervillains of all time, the Joker has made numerous TV and film appearances. He is easily recognised by his chalk-white skin, ruby lips, green hair and trademark purple suit. His character has often been re-imagined and his crimes have regularly shifted between over-the-top pranks and repeated acts of mass murder and terrorism. In most Batman/DC comic continuities, the Batman does not kill foes, but a number of the Joker's incarnations have been killed off in one way or another.
