Tod Waggner is one of the main cast of characters in the horror film Final Destination. He was a student at Mount Abraham High School in New York and the best friend of protagonist Alex Browning. He is the first of the main characters to die in the film following the Volée Airlines Flight 180 disaster.
History[]
Tod and his brother George were among several students from Mount Abraham High School to be selected for the school's annual field trip to Paris, France in 1999. While waiting to board Flight 180 at John F. Kennedy Airport, he told Alex about his plans to hook up with the girls Christa and Blake during the trip. While he and Alex were in the bathroom, they heard John Denver's Rocky Mountain High playing over the speakers, which made Alex feel uneasy due to the lyrics and the fact that John Denver had died in a plane crash.
Later, after everyone had boarded the plane, Alex experienced his premonition of the plane exploding. In this vision, Tod was killed when a stereo fell out of an overhead compartment and hit him on the back of the head. After waking from his prophetic nightmare, Alex became hysterical and yelled that the plane was going to explode and everyone would die. Alex was then forcefully removed from the plane and his teacher and several of his classmates, including Tod, followed. The plane took off shortly after and exploded just as Alex had foreseen.
Over a month after the catastrophe, Tod and the other survivors attended the funeral for the 39 members of the Mount Abraham student body and faculty who lost their lives. Tod gave a speech during the service and spoke with Alex afterwards, saying that his parents didn't want him associating with Alex since they blamed him for the accident that took the life of Tod's brother. Tod assured Alex that after his parents had gotten over the incident, the two of them would go on a road trip together.
Death[]

The night following the funeral, Tod was at home in the bathroom using the toilet. Unbeknownst to him, the toilet had sprung a leak and water was beginning to spread across the floor. As Tod walked between the toilet and the sink, the water seemed to follow him as though it had a mind of its own. After he finished shaving, Tod turned and ended up slipping on the puddle of water that had formed on the floor, falling towards the bathtub. As he fell, the clothesline over the tub broke off from the wall and coiled tightly around Tod's neck.
Tod struggled to try and remove the clothesline, but the shampoo and conditioner sat by the bathtub had spilled in, causing him to slip and lose traction. He tried reaching for a pair of scissors by the sink, but couldn't quite reach. As he struggled to breathe, Tod's eyes turned red as the blood vessels burst. He ultimately succumbed to asphyxiation and died. Mysteriously, the water that had leaked from the toilet slid back across the floor and into the pipe, thus covering Death's tracks. With no evidence to suggest foul play or even an accident, Tod's death was ruled as a suicide by the authorities. Tod's parents would blame Alex for this, as well, believing that Tod killed himself because of his guilt over George's death.
