Tricia becomes shocked to see the Bull Shark in the lake's waters.
Tricia Layton is a minor character and the first victim in the 2003 film Red Water.
History[]
At a beach party on Lake Virret in Louisiana, Tricia arrives with her friend Rashaune in her car. Getting out, the girls strip into their bathing suits as Tricia challenges Rashaune into a swimming race, with the loser buying lunch afterwards. The couple sprint until they hit the beach waters to begin their race, diving into the lake waters at once. Tricia and Rashaune swim their fastest until they reach a great distance away from the beach. Tricia, at first is taking the lead until she stops the moment she senses something's off.
Rashaune asks her friend what's wrong as Tricia begins to frantically whir around after saying she "felt something" in the water. Tricia continues looking until she sees the dorsal and tail fins of the Bull Shark, circling them both.
"Shark.", Tricia whispered in horror.
Rashaune however thinks she's tripping until Tricia screams about the shark loud enough that it alerts the lifeguards, swimmers and other beach patrons to get out of the water immediately. Rashaune then sees the shark for herself as she and Tricia swim as fast as they can to the pontoon in the middle of the lake.

Tricia is caught in the Bull Shark's jaws from below.
Once the girls reach the pontoon, Rashaune is the first to climb aboard to safety. Tricia however, is not so fortunate. Just as Rashaune reaches out to her girlfiend's hand to pull her up, Tricia lets out a piercing scream as she feels the shark's powerful jaws bite her legs with it's teeth from below the water and begin to thrash and pull her under. Distraught from letting her slip away, Rashaune cries out to Tricia in the water. Seconds later, Tricia rises out, but she's screaming her loudest with blood gushing from her mouth. Tricia ultimately dies as the Bull Shark bites down on her lower body and jerks her down once more to devoured. Rashaune is left on the pontoon in tears after watching her friend die in front of her.
In the aftermath, Tricia's father, the head of a nearby chemical plant, places a $50,000 bounty on the shark setting off much of the events of the film.
