Turbo - also known as King Candy - is the main antagonist of the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph.

History[]

Turbo Time

Turbo's true form

When Litwak's Arcade first opened, Turbo and his game Turbo Time were very popular with gamers. However, that changed when another racing game stole his thunder. Turbo was incredibly jealous and left his game and caused both games to be placed out of order. Later, he secretly infiltrated a game called Sugar Rush. There, he tried to erase the code of Vanellope von Schweetz and forged a new identity for himself, King Candy. However, he knew that Vanellope would undo his hard work if she ever crossed the finish line, and so he fooled the various characters in the game into believing that Vanellope's glitch would cause irreparable damage to the game if she ever won a race. Thus, Vanellope was banned from racing and was ostracized by the rest of the game's population.

Years later, Turbo - as King Candy - had become extremely popular with his subjects and with players. However, his machinations were threatened when Wreck-It Ralph, a character from the game Fix-It Felix, arrived in Sugar Rush and scared away the racers who were bullying Vanellope after she tried to enter a race. He sent his donut officers to arrest both Ralph and Vanellope.

Later after being unmasked, Ralph was questioned by King Candy on why he was in a different game. Ralph explained that his gold medal was stolen, but the King dismissed his story and told his guards to arrest Ralph. Ralph and Vanellope would flee to the kart factory where they evaded their pursuers. The King ordered his henchmen to find and destroy the cart that Vanellope had built.

Later on, King Candy discovered Ralph's medal within the code of the game. He decided to trick Ralph into helping him and found Ralph at Diet Cola Mountain, lying to him about what would happen if Vanellope crossed the finish line. Thinking that he was saving his new friend, Ralph went and destroyed Vanellope's cart. Afterwards, Ralph sadly returned to his game while King Candy captured Vanellope.

Later, after becoming suspicious of King Candy's story, Ralph returned to Sugar Rush and questioned King Candy's majordomo Sour Bill, who revealed that Vanellope was a racer. Ralph then decided to find King Candy and fix the game. Later on, a confident King Candy decided to race until he saw Vanellope with a fixed cart pass him. He grabbed onto her cart and she began to glitch along with him. Because of Vanellope's glitch, King Candy's facade disappeared and he was exposed as the long lost racing game protagonist Turbo. Turbo admitted his crime of reprogramming the world of Sugar Rush before attempting to ram Vanellope's cart into a stalagmite, but Vanellope was able to take full control of her glitching and teleported out of Turbo's grasp.

King candy bug

As Turbo pursued Vanellope, a Cy-Bug - a creature from the game Hero's Duty - appeared in his path. Unable to stop in time, Turbo was devoured whole by the Cy-Bug. Instead of being killed by the Cy-Bug that ate him, Turbo was able to fuse with it, transforming into a warped hybrid of Cy-Bug and his King Candy persona.

Death[]

Upon emerging in his new hybrid state, Turbo proclaimed that he was the most powerful virus in the arcade and could take over any game he wanted. He attacked Ralph in an effort to kill him, but Ralph was preoccupied with trying to make Diet Cola Mountain erupt in order to create a beacon that would attract the Cy-Bug swarm ravaging the game. Eventually, Turbo got the upper hand and flew into the air, where Ralph was forced to watch helplessly as Vanellope was cornered by a swarm of Cy-Bugs.

Ralph was able to break free of Turbo's grip and plummeted towards the volcano. He struck the ground so hard that he triggered an eruption, the light from the plume of lava serving as a beacon to attract the Cy-Bugs. Now part Cy-Bug himself, Turbo was also enthralled by the light and flew towards the eruption in a trance. He tried to snap himself out of it, but ultimately failed as he flew into the lava plume and was engulfed. Since he didn't belong in Sugar Rush, Turbo's corrupt code was destroyed completely when engulfed by the lava.

Following Turbo's death and defeat, Vanellope safely made it across the finish line, thus finishing the race and resetting the game. This restored Vanellope's code and position as sovereign, while King Candy's hold over the citizens' memories was obliterated, freeing them from their bonds and remembering who their true ruler was.
