Zachary Trumble was a minor character from the TV series Gotham, appearing in the Season 4 episode "One of My Three Soups". He was the owner of a diner in Gotham City and was also the maternal uncle of the psychotic criminal Jerome Valeska.

History[]

When Jerome was young, he was regularly abused by just about every adult in his life, including his uncle Zachary who, frequently beat him. One time, Zachary had caught Jerome trying to steal cookies from him and punished him by putting his hand into a pot of boiling chicken stock.

Years later, after Jerome had staged a mass breakout from Arkham Asylum, he paid a visit to his uncle's diner. At one point, police had arrived at the diner looking for Jerome, but Zachary told them he hadn't seen him, though in reality Jerome was hiding under the table. After the cops had left, Jerome re-emerged and he and Zachary got into a conversation about soup. Zachary had prepared three bowls of soup at the table: one for himself, one for Jerome and one for his associate Lunkhead, whom he had called to help him get rid of Jerome.

When Bruce Wayne showed up to confront Jerome, Zachary tried to have him leave but the latter was insistent on having them call the cops. Realizing he wasn't leave, Zachary had Lunkhead attack Bruce. Jerome then got one over on Zachary and tried to get him to drink bleach. Though Zachary got out of it by writing down the address for St. Ignatius, Jerome still killed him by shooting him.
